  • "Citizen Science and Environmental Education for Sustainability"

The Environmental Education Lab designed and implemented an 100-hours e-learning course on "Citizen Science and Environmental Education for Sustainability" in the framework of the European project Cos4Cloud (HORIZON 2020), in which it was the national coordinator. The academic leadership of the e-learning course was assumed by Associate Professor Maria Daskolia.

The course had as objectives:

a. to raise the awareness of key actors in the school practice of Environmental Education/Sustainable Development Education (EE/ESD) on Citizen Science; and

b. to support the implementation of educational activities and projects in the framework of the EE/ESD for primary and secondary education students in the region of Attica.

The six-month training course which was conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Training and Lifelong Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (CCE/KEDIVIM) and hosted on its platform took place between 27/06 and 30/12/2020.

The participating teachers and education staff took part in a wide range of training activities, individual and team-based, which were designed based on the principles of distance adult education and on the use of appropriate didactical techniques. Dedicated training materials were designed to support learning.

The project design and implementation team consisted of: Maria Daskolia (academic leader), Dimitris Gkotzos, Naya Grillia and Evi Kakaroucha.
