  • "Citizen Science and Environmental Education for Sustainability"

The Environmental Education Lab has designed and implemented a 100-hour e-learning course on “Citizen Science and Environmental Education for Sustainability” in the framework of the European project Cos4Cloud (HORIZON 2020), in which it was the national coordinator. The academic leadership of the e-learning course was assumed by Professor Maria Daskolia.

The course had as objectives:

a. to raise the awareness of key actors in the school practice of Environmental Education/Sustainable Development Education (EE/ESD) on Citizen Science; and

b. to support the implementation of educational activities and projects in the framework of the EE/ESD for primary and secondary education students in the region of Attica.

This six-month training course was conducted in partnership with the Centre of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (CCE/KEDIVIM) and was hosted on their platform from June 27 to December 30, 2020.

Participants, including teachers and educational staff, engaged in a variety of training activities—both individual and collaborative—structured according to the principles of distance adult education and utilizing effective instructional techniques. Tailored training materials were developed to reinforce the learning process.

The project design and implementation team included Maria Daskolia (Academic Leader), Dimitris Gkotzos, Naya Grillia, and Evi Kakaroucha.
