Citizen Science and Environmental Education for Sustainability

The Environmental Education Lab developed and delivered a 100-hour e-learning course titled “Citizen Science and Environmental Education for Sustainability” as part of the European project Cos4Cloud (HORIZON 2020), where it served as the national coordinator. The course was academically led by Professor Maria Daskolia.

Course objectives:

  • To raise awareness of citizen science among key actors involved in Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development (EE/ESD) in school settings.
  • To support the implementation of educational activities and projects related to EE/ESD for primary and secondary education students in the Attica region.

This six-month training program was conducted in collaboration with the Centre of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning at NKUA and hosted on their platform from June 27 to December 30, 2020.

Participants (including teachers and educational staff) engaged in a variety of individual and collaborative training activities, designed according to adult distance education principles and employing effective instructional methods. Customized training materials were developed to enhance the learning experience.

The project’s design and implementation team included Professor Maria Daskolia (Academic Leader), Dimitris Gkotzos, Naya Grillia, and Evi Kakaroucha.
