The Environmental Education Lab (EEL) is committed to advancing knowledge, practice, and policy in Environmental Education (EE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Through interdisciplinary research, education, and community engagement, EEL strives to empower learners and educators, foster sustainable behaviors, and contribute to informed societal action on environmental challenges.
The Lab pursues the following specific objectives:
- To foster research and academic collaboration in the fields of Environmental Education (EE) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
- To provide comprehensive training for undergraduate and postgraduate students on topics related to EE and ESD.
- To offer initial and ongoing professional development opportunities for teachers specializing in EE and ESD.
- To promote lifelong environmental awareness and deliver training programs aimed at the general public.
- To provide scientific support and consulting services to organisations, agencies, and stakeholders engaged in EE and ESD initiatives.
- To establish partnerships and facilitate the exchange of best practices with institutions, centres, and organisations at national, European, and international levels concerning EE and ESD.
- To contribute to the development of networks and communities of practice among individuals and groups committed to advancing EE and ESD.
- To create pedagogical resources, both printed and digital, that support EE and ESD across formal, non-formal, and lifelong learning contexts.
- To actively participate in discussions and policy development at national and European levels relating to the research, promotion, and implementation of EE and ESD.
